What We Believe:
About God the Father
We believe that God is the Creator and absolute ruler of the universe. He is eternally existent in three personalities: the Father; the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the virgin born Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross. Three days after His death and burial, He arose from the dead to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended back to Heaven, after His resurrection, and assumed His place of glory at His Father's right hand. Soon, He will return to the earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
About The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to reveal to people their need for Jesus Christ. He accomplishes this by making people aware of their sinful condition and pointing out the truth concerning who Jesus Christ is. He also lives in every Christian from the very moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing the right thing. The Christian seeks to live under the power of the Holy Spirit every day.
About The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. It was written by human authors under the direct supervision and supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for all Christian belief and practice. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error whatsoever.
We believe that man is created in the spiritual image of God Himself, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God's wonderful creation. Although man possesses great power to do good things, he is absolutely marred by sin and is inherently wicked. Mankind possesses an attitude of disobedience toward God and His Law. This disobedient spirit and the resulting acts are called sin. Sin separates mankind from God.
We believe that salvation is God's gift to humanity. Men, left alone, can never produce salvation through their good works or self-improvement. Salvation is produced only by trusting Jesus Christ as God's perfect offer of forgiveness. Eternal life begins the instant a person receives Jesus as his personal Savior. Salvation is a product of God's sovereign grace. Man is only responsible for believing, by faith, what the Word of God says concerning salvation in Jesus Christ.
About Eternal Security
We believe that because salvation is God's gift to mankind, the believer is eternally secure in His salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of Almighty God, not by the self-effort of the believer. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.
About Christ’s Return
We believe in that "Blessed Hope" - the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones - and in His subsequent return to earth with His saints to establish His Millennial Kingdom.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. We believe that the souls of the redeemed at death are absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection when spirit, soul and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. We believe that the souls of unbelievers after death remain in conscious misery until the second resurrection when, with soul and body reunited, they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment.

Women On Mission
"Women on Mission" is a group of women who meet at 6:00pm the third Tuesday night of each month. They discuss what kind of mission work they can do and lead the church in our home and foreign missions.
Young at Heart
The "Young at Heart" group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 11 am in the Fellowship Hall. The group is made up of anyone who would like to join, but is mostly senior adults. At each meeting, individuals bring a dish and share a meal together. They usually have a good speaker or entertainment, etc. Every few months they take a one-day trip and enjoy fellowship with each other.
The men and boys who come to Brotherhood meet the 2nd Sunday of each month in the Fellowship Hall at 7am for breakfast. They have a good speaker or short devotion and are finished by 8:30 or 9 am.
What To Expect
The purpose of our church is the same now as when its was established in the 1930's and that is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and to lead the lost to Him. We do this by a strong focus on the preaching and teaching of the Bible. This is the only basis for our faith and practice.
We are traditional in our worship, but while we still use our hymnbooks to sing the great hymns of the faith, we also embrace the praise songs of the 21st century.
We have opportunities to learn and fellowship for all ages from our Children's ministry to our "Young at Heart" (our senior saints group).
Our church motto is "One in the Bond of Love" and we believe you will sense both the love of the Lord and the love of our people when you come to visit and worship with us.
Pineywood Baptist Church Was Established in 1938
Seeing a need for a church in the Pineywood community, in 1937 Mrs. Mattie Moore helped organize an open-air tent revival. Afterwards they began holding services in people's homes, and land was soon donated by George and Della Bates so that a new church could be built.
Pineywood was established in 1938 with 19 charter members, with the first service being held in a one room wooden structure on the first Sunday of March 1938. Since then, many additions have been made using money raised and donated by members. These include the Fellowship Hall, which is named in honor of Bro. Ray Moore who came to Pineywood in 1957 and served as our beloved pastor for 41 years.
At Pineywood Baptist our goal is to truly be "One in the Bond of Love!"
